We Are Committed to Staying Small
Sage Future Financial is an independent fee-only financial planning and wealth management firm headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Services include investment management, retirement planning, tax planning, estate planning, college funding strategies, and legacy planning.
We are a small firm and we plan to keep it that way in order to provide exceptional service to our clients. Donna Skeels Cygan previously owned Essential Financial Planning, a larger financial advisory firm, for more than ten years. The prior firm grew very rapidly, limiting her time with her family as well as her time working directly with clients, which has always been her passion. In late 2007, Essential Financial Planning was sold with a staff of five, including a junior advisor.
Shortly after selling the firm, several former clients requested that Donna Skeels Cygan return to financial planning. After honoring a non-compete clause, and with a commitment to keeping the firm small, Donna launched Sage Future Financial. She believes the size of the firm is crucial to assuring clients they will receive extensive service directly from her, so she limited Sage Future’s Financial’s size to 40 clients.
Donna Skeels Cygan has a virtual support staff working for her. The staff provides administrative support (reports for client meetings, mailings, maintaining software programs, databases, etc.). Many firms pursuing a growth strategy are more focused on attracting new clients and training employees, rather than providing exceptionally high quality service to their clients. Clients at Sage Future are never passed to a junior advisor because we are committed to providing excellent service to each client.
Due to our decision to keep Sage Future small and personal, we limit the number of new clients to one or two each year. Our minimum investment requirement is $1,000,000.
Sage Future Financial has a national presence, with clients in many states across the U.S. Occasionally out-of-state clients will vacation in New Mexico, allowing many of their travel expenses to be tax deductible when their travel plans include a financial planning meeting.
